It’s probably no surprise that, at Tettra, we’re very curious about how companies operate, especially when it comes to hiring and onboarding. After all, the process of bringing new team members on board hinges on good knowledge transfer. We’re fascinated by what the most high-performance teams do, so that we can share their approach with others.
What has been more surprising is how curious other people seem to be as well. It’s clear there’s an appetite for best practices when it comes to hiring, onboarding, and knowledge transfer. Tettra customers frequently ask us for guidance about how to better document things and advice on what other companies are doing. Additionally, the report we published with Databox on this topic garnered a ton of enthusiasm.
Thus, we decided to build a tool to solve this pain point. What better time to build something fun than on a team offsite? We’d been planning a team outing to Silver Lake in New Hampshire, so it was a no-brainer to add a hackathon to our agenda.
Like many things in life, the hackathon benefited from thoughtful preparation. Shauni established clear parameters and guardrails to keep everyone on the same page. She solicited ideas in advance, so we could hit the ground running on the offsite. Even though we were all in the same room, we set up a Slack channel for sharing ideas and resources.
We settled on a project that allowed each of us to get involved in leveraging our skillsets: we built a tool that benchmarks trends in hiring and onboarding. You’ll see how your team compares to others. You’ll also get actionable advice about how to improve over time.
Over time, we look forward to sharing the data and insights we gather, so that all teams can get better at this critical skill. Try our new benchmarking tool, and see how you stack up against other companies. We hope you’ll join us on our mission to make it easier to build a high-performance team!
